Mokoro Trips

If you thought Venice was the only place where they punt boats through narrow waterways, think again! A mokoro trip is a unique way to emerge yourself in the unique habitat of the Okavango Delta. Mokoros are carved boats that seat two people and are punted by a local guide. Mokoros get you close enough to the water surface to truly appreciate the size of big jawed residents like crocodiles and hippopotami.

The great advantage of mokoros is that you travel in complete silence. The guide will actually shout in order to warn hippos, since surprised 2 ton animal isn’t always a nice thing. The minimal size of the mokoro also allows you to access areas that can’t be explored by any other means. This gives you the chance to track down rare creatures like the rare sitatunga, a very shy and elusive antelope.
