Other Cities in Botswana
Kasane
Kasane is a good stop over if you are visiting Chobe National Park. The town is also built right on the intersection of four countries: Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Nearby Kazungula is the border crossing to Zimbabwe and it also connects to Zambia via the Kazungula ferry.
There isn’t much to do in Kasane as such, but most of the lodges organize game drives, river cruises and other activities. Thebe River Camping offers a bar, meals and a beautiful campsite. The most Luxurious option is Chobe Chilwero Lodge with romantic bungalows and stunning views.
Ghanzi
Ghanzi in the Kalahari is the best place to shop for San crafts. Gantsi Craft offer anything from woven mats and textiles to musical instruments and traditional weapons. If you want to spend the night, Thakadu Camp and the Kalahari Arms Hotel offer comfortable accommodation as well as camping.
Francistown
The country’s second largest city is located in Eastern Botswana. Not much of a tourist attraction, Francistown is a convenient stopover on your way to or from the major national parks. If you are travelling through this area, consider a detour to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. The 4,300 hectare area host the country’s remaining rhino population as well as leopards, giraffes and various antelopes.
The Marang Hotel and the Tati River Lodge offer comfortable accommodation and camping on either side of the Tati River. Cresta Thapama Lodge is your luxury option and comes with a casino and a tennis court.
