Orange River Rafting

The Orange River

The Orange River originates in the Drakensberg Mountain is Lesotho and forms part of South Africa’s Namibian boarder before its journey ends in the Atlantic Ocean. The Richtersveld area not only has the perfect climate for a few days on the river but is also devoid of African dangers such as Malaria, hippos or crocodiles. Instead the water is perfect for swimming, you will encounter stunning birdlife and enjoy of the most relaxing holidays you have ever had.

4 Day and 6 Day Rafting Tours

The tours are operated in two-man blow-up boats called “crocs”. Since you will be travelling downstream moderate levels of fitness will suffice completely. Your knowledgeable river guide will share interesting information on the area and prepare all the meals, so you can just kick back and enjoy the scenery. Most rafting companies offer 4 or 6 day tours. You need to bring:

  • A sleeping bag and a mat
  • Food for the first night
  • Drinks
  • Transport to and from base camp

You will meet at the well-facilitated base camp the night before. You days will consist of some light paddling , cold drinks, some swimming, ambrosial meals, bird watching and picturesque sunsets before you go to sleep under a blanket of stars.
