TOUR DESCRIPTION AND BREAK-DOWN:

Day 1: Maun (D*) Camping

Arriving in Maun at 14h00 you will be briefed by our experienced team and have the opportunity to meet your fellow travellers on this once in a lifetime journey. If you feel adventurous it is highly recommended that you sign up for the Okavango Delta scenic flight. This optional extra will allow you a bird’s eye view of the vast criss-crossing waterways which make up this mighty Delta, the lifeline of the Kalahari Basin. You are free to spend the afternoon getting to know your fellow travellers and making final preparations for the final leg of the safari.

Day 2, 3: Tsodilo Hills / Okavango River (B.L.D) Camping

We follow the Okavango River as it flows towards the Kalahari Basin, a vital lifeline dissecting the dry African Earth.  Having established camp we will visit the Holy Mountains of the Gods, a sacred sight for the San people who once roamed freely in these lands. This World Heritage Site provides valuable insights into the San’s customs, practices and beliefs and we will have the amazing opportunity to visit a San village. A large variety of ancient rock paintings decorate the granite mountain tops. Rising early on day 3 we will continue our journey along the banks of the Okavango River, the afternoon spent on a boat exploring the rivers many hidden channels and waterways.

Day 4, 5: Okavango, Mahango Game reserve (B.L.D) Camping

For the next two days we continue along the banks of the Okavango, soaking up the atmosphere and wildlife. Highlights include the village of Ngepi that allows us to experience the lifestyles of those living on the Namibian Caprivi. We will also visit a nearby game reserve and enjoy a picnic lunch after a riverside game drive.

Day 6: Kwando (B.L.D) Camping

Today we explore an old German colonial town in the Caprivi game reserve, part of the infamous “Caprivi strip”, where many battles were fought between South African and Angolan forces during Apartheid. The friendly Kwando people will lead the way to Katima Mulilo (the place of fire) a vibrant area filled with traditional markets. This is an opportunity to learn about the history, traditions, craftsmanship and culture of the Caprivi.

Day 7, 8: Kasane / Chobe National Park (B) Camping

Sadly our Safari is coming to an end but not before we explore the magic of Kasane and Chobe National Park. Based in Kasane you will have the unique opportunity to explore the Chobe River. The tour includes a game drive however if you would like to view the exceptional fauna of the area from the river, a boat cruise option is available at one’s own expense.
