TOUR DESCRIPTION AND BREAK-DOWN:
Day 1, 2, 3 Maun –Kalahari – Lodge
You will depart Maun on a charter flight deep into the heart of the Kalahari. Arriving at the airstrip you will be greeted by a friendly lodge representative who will escort you to Leroo La Tau where you will pass the next three nights. Leroo La Tau towers above the Boteti River which snakes along the western periphery of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.
The park itself is populated by up to 30,000 Zebra and Wilderbeest whose large numbers ensure not only a spectacular game viewing opportunity but a chance to encounter the many predators that stalk these mighty herds. What better place to witness prey and predators alike then from a raised hide just above the river, put at your disposal by the lodge.
The lodge offers 12 thatched chalets, each with en-suite bathrooms. Relax in the main lodge’s reading room or bar or enjoy an excellent meal in the dining room. Expansive wooden decks and a plunge pool add further luxury to this once in a lifetime wildlife experience in Botswana. What better way to end a long day of game viewing then to retire after dinner to a splendid fireplace overlooking the river.
Day 4, 5, 6 Okavango Delta – Lodge
After a hearty breakfast and a final glance over the Xakanaxa Lagoon it will be time to bid a sad farewell to Camp Moremi and leave for the airstrip where you will board a charter flight bound for the Okavango Delta. Once again you will be met by a friendly lodge representative who will escort you to Camp Okavango to relax and settle in. Located on Nxaragha Island in the heart of the Okavango Delta this enchanting lodge boasts a cocktail bar, sitting area and wildlife reference library. The dining room opens onto a large open-air patio where travelers can relax in front of a roaring fire. Further facilities include a secluded bird hide and a sundeck with a plunge pool (what better place to enjoy a cocktail).
This highly exclusive lodge accommodates just 24 guests in custom African-style safari tents on raised teak platforms. There are also en-suite bathrooms and private game viewing decks. Game tours are led by experienced guides and include exploring the many waterways that make up the Delta by Mokoro (dugout canoe) or motorboat. Guided nature walks on many of the surrounding islands are also included.
Day 7, 8, 9 Moremi Game Reserve – Lodge
After a luxurious stay in the magical Okavango you will board a charter flight destined for the Moremi Game Reserve where you will be met by a friendly lodge represent who will escort you to Camp Moremi where you will spend the next 3 nights.
The elegant main lodge building, an elevated thatch and timber structure, boasts a communal sitting area, comprehensive wildlife reference library, dining room and cocktail bar. Further facilities include a secluded swimming pool with sundeck and a thatched Boma where brunch and high tea are served.
Exclusivity is ensured as the lodge has a maximum capacity of 22 guests. Guests will be housed in luxurious African-style safari tents that have been raised on teak platforms. Each tent not only boasts en-suite facilities but private decks with magnificent views onto the Xakanaxa Lagoon.
Both morning and afternoon game drives in specially modified 4×4 vehicles ensure frequent sightings of lions, leopards, cheetahs and wild dogs. Guests may also explore the Xakanaxa lagoon and surrounding channels by motorboat.
Day 10, 11, 12 Chobe National Park – Lodge
After passing three exciting days in the Moremi Game Reserve it is time to move on to the next part of the adventure. Accordingly you will board a chartered flight to the Chobe National Park where you will once again be met by a friendly lodge representative who will guide you to the Savuti Safari Lodge to settle in.
The exclusive Savuti Lodge lies on the banks of the Savuti channel and only accommodates 24 guests in cool thatched timber and glass suites. All suites have private decks, combined bedroom and sitting areas and en-suite facilities. The luxurious main building, made from thatch and timber, comprises of a sitting area, cocktail bar and wildlife library. What sets Savuti apart from its competitors is its unique viewing deck, an el-fresco dining area and swimming pool-all situated ideally for watching game at the watering hole.
The area is renowned for its population of Bull elephant and the prevalence of predators. In order to take advantage of the abundant game open 4×4 drives are easily available. Highlights include a visit to the famous Savuti Marsh and Gubutsa hills to view ancient San rock paintings.
Day 13 Chobe National Park – Maun
After a week immersed in the majesty, mystery and luxury of the African wilderness you will say a sad farewell and board the charter flight back to Maun. Your safari may be over but the memories of this experience will stay with you for a lifetime and we hope that you will visit again soon.
