TOUR DESCRIPTION AND BREAK-DOWN:
Day 1, 2, 3 Maun – Kalahari – Lodge
After a pleasant stay in Maun you will depart on a charter flight deep into the heart of the Kalahari. Arriving at the airstrip you will be greeted by a friendly lodge representative who will escort you to Leroo La Tau where you will pass the next three nights. Leroo La Tau towers above the Boteti River which snakes along the western periphery of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.
The park itself is populated by up to 30,000 Zebra and Wilderbeest whose large numbers ensure not only a spectacular game viewing opportunity but a chance to encounter the many predators that stalk these mighty herds. What better place to witness prey and predators alike then from a raised hide just above the river, put at your disposal by the lodge.
The lodge offers 12 thatched chalets, each with en-suite bathrooms. Relax in the main lodge’s reading room or bar or enjoy an excellent meal in the dining room. Expansive wooden decks and a plunge pool add further luxury to this once in a lifetime wildlife experience in Botswana. What better way to end a long day of game viewing then to retire after dinner to a splendid fireplace overlooking the river.
Day 4, 5, 6 Okavango Delta – Lodge
After a hearty breakfast and a final glance over the majestic Boteti River it will be time to bid a sad farewell to the Leroo La Tau Lodge and leave for the airstrip where you will board a charter flight bound for the Okavango Delta. Once again you will be met by a friendly lodge representative who will escort you to Camp Okavango to relax and settle in. Located on Nxaragha Island in the heart of the Okavango Delta this enchanting lodge boasts a cocktail bar, sitting area and wildlife reference library. The dining room opens onto a large open-air patio where travelers can relax in front of a roaring fire. Further facilities include a secluded bird hide and a sundeck with a plunge pool (what better place to enjoy a cocktail).
This highly exclusive lodge accommodates just 24 guests in custom African-style safari tents on raised teak platforms. There are also en-suite bathrooms and private game viewing decks. Game tours are led by experienced guides and include exploring the many waterways that make up the Delta by Mokoro (dugout canoe) or motorboat. Guided nature walks on many of the surrounding islands are also included.
Day 7 Departure
After a week immersed in the majesty, mystery and luxury of the Kalahari and Okavango Delta you will say a sad farewell and board the charter flight back to Maun. Your safari may be over but the memories of this experience will stay with you for a lifetime and we hope that you will visit again soon.
